As we age, the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates which results in fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin texture. SkinPen comfortably creates thousands of controlled microchannels in the skin to trigger the body's natural wound healing process.
This process results in new collagen formation and remodelling of the existing collagen which supports the underlying tissue. The result is more youthful, smoother and tighter looking skin.
How does Microneedling work?
A small, hand-held instrument with tiny needles penetrates the skin at various levels. These micro-injuries allow the skin to heal and repair itself, and new collagen and elastin to form, whilst breaking down old collagen.
This treatment has many skin benefits, including treatment of acne scars, stretch marks, wrinkles, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture.
What to expect
The Microneedling procedure is relatively short, lasting around 30 minutes, with a quick recovery time of 48 hours.
For optimal results, a plan should be made for multiple procedures. We recommend 4-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
For best skin rejuvenation results, alternating microneedling treatments with rejuvenation treatments such as skin tightening is ideal.
You can expect very mild post-procedure effects, similar to mild sunburn.
